12 Doors of Anamnesis

In philosophy, “anamnesis” is a concept from Plato’s epistemological and psychological theory: the idea that humans possess knowledge from past incarnations, and that learning consists of rediscovering that knowledge already within us.

When I went into three days of brain-death few years ago, I felt as if I were going through enchanted doors to the unknown, from which I came back to life through other challenging ones: ‘The Doors of Anamnesis’.

Every once in a while, I take refugee in a house in the country where there’s open field and silence, allowing me to create. I am fascinated by land art and often feel the need to give something to nature that inspires and recycles me. Creating these ‘Doors of Anamnesis’ in the open fields triggers my imagination, opening paths from personal to cosmic consciousness – an intimate dialogue – enabling me to go beyond myself and what is visible in this physical world. My secret ritual, my passage to the unknown; celebrating our own private sanctuary, our own intimate shrine.
